Title: Benefits Coordinator
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Benefits Administrator

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Benefit Coordinator administers the organizations health plans, including providing information to assist employees with their benefits, maintain employee data base and files, processing related documentation, including retirement savings, disability cover, life and health insurance, and parental leave. The Benefits Coordinator should be knowledgeable in employee benefits and regulations. Will also have great communication skills to communicate with team members about their benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assisting employees with enrollment in benefits programs, such as medical, life, dental, vision and 401K
• Provide benefit communications, orientations, enrollments and claim processing
• Prepare and maintain benefit records on file and data base, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
• Liaison with insurance providers on behalf of employees and the company
• Prepare monthly reports for medical eligible for ACA compliance, prepare communications, ensuring that the company’s benefits policy complies with laws and regulations
• Assist the Benefits Administrator in verifying the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance
• Accounting the total cost to company of various benefits options
• Provide new employees with an explanation of benefits and instruct them on enrollment and fulfillment procedures

General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinates with Human Resources procedures to initiate benefits
• Informing employees of any changes to their benefits
• Prepare documentation to support payroll status changes for any benefits effective, including changes that affect weekly contributions
• Keeping employee benefits records up to date
• Assist in resolving administrative problems with the carrier representatives
• Prepare detailed reports related to benefit cost and eligibility
• Perform other special projects as assigned
• Process enrollments quickly and accurately

Knowledge and Skills:
• The ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adjust quickly to urgent matters
• The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
• Self-motivated to be successful in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills

Required Education and Experience:
• High school diploma/GED required
• Associate Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred, but not required
• 3+ years’ experience in HR with benefits experience

Physical Demands

• May also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time
• Requires prolonged sitting or standing
• Typical physical demands or activities include climbing, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and walking

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a non-exempt Level Position; Monday – Friday, schedule would be based on business necessity and coordinated through the reporting supervisor.

Requirements

  • Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associate Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred, but not required
