About the Role
The Stocker is responsible for transporting, stocking, and displaying grocery merchandise, as well as assisting in departments such as beer, dairy, deli, frozen foods, and general merchandise when needed. Stockers also support eCommerce by selecting and preparing customer orders for curbside pickup. This role ensures product freshness, accuracy, and presentation while maintaining Vallarta’s standards for safety, sanitation, and customer service.
What You’ll Do

  • Smile and greet all customers and team members; deliver extraordinary service using Vallarta’s six steps.
  • Practice and model Vallarta’s Core Values: customer service, commitment, integrity, respect, humility, and teamwork.
  • Transport, stock, and display grocery merchandise according to company standards.
  • Select and pack eCommerce customer orders with accuracy and care, ensuring freshness and quality.
  • Read and follow order notes; contact customers about substitutions if needed.
  • Bag groceries per company procedures and deliver orders to vehicles.
  • Assist with building and maintaining store displays and signage.
  • Rotate perishable merchandise and pull out-of-code products.
  • Handle merchandise carefully to minimize damage and shrink.
  • Support inventory, price marking, and physical inventory counts.
  • Safely unload and transport products using dollies, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Maintain clean, organized shelves, stockrooms, and work areas.
  • Comply with food safety, health code, and sanitation practices.
  • Follow company policies and safety standards; report unsafe acts or equipment immediately.
  • Foster teamwork, support training, and assist other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).
  • Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Frequent hand use for grasping, pulling, pushing, and fine manipulation.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Heaviest item required to carry: 61 lbs., up to 25 feet.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other moving equipment safely.
  • Work near equipment/machinery; exposure to dust, gas, fumes, temperature, and humidity changes.
  • Work on uneven ground occasionally.
  • May be required to perform tasks at elevated levels (placing or retrieving items).
  • May be required to work graveyard shifts.

What We’re Looking For

  • Friendly, courteous personality with strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of grocery products and store layout.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to operate dollies, pallet jacks, ladders, and box cutters safely.
  • Ability to perform basic math for stocking and transactions.
  • Must be able to work in extreme cold temperatures for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of English language.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  1. Information We Collect about Applicants

We may collect your emergency contact information as well. If you are hired, we may collect additional personal identifiers about you to facilitate the employment relationship.

  1. Biometric Information. We may collect your fingerprints to facilitate the employment relationship, if you are hired, and required as part of the hiring/employment process.

Depending on your role/duties with the Company, we may collect information regarding your criminal history, driving history, and credit history as part of our employment background check.   1. Thermal or other Health-Related Information.
