GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Courtesy Clerk provides excellent service and assistance to customers at the check stand by bagging customer’s purchased groceries quickly and carefully and responds to customers’ requests in locating products. Collects shopping carts according to Company procedures and assists in general housekeeping as needed in the store and in the parking lot. Performs a full range of custodial duties related to the cleaning of the store and facilities, including store’s parking lot and outside parameter of store.
DUTIES:
1. Smile and greet all customers and team members while using the six steps of delivering extraordinary customer service.
2. Responsible for practicing, supporting, and believing everyday in Vallarta’s core values which are customer service, commitment, integrity, respect, humility, and team work
. 3. Bag customer groceries adhering to customers request and Vallarta Supermarkets bagging procedures.
4. Assist customers with their purchases including assisting with carry out service of groceries to their vehicles.
5. Perform accurate price checks on items as requested; must compare UPC code on product with UPC code on label or sign.
6. Conduct a visual inspection of the bottom of the cart of the shopping cart and inform cashier of any item to ensure recording of item (only if trained)
. 7. Apply red Vallarta tape on items found at the bottom of the cart once item has been recorded by cashier (only if trained).
8. Perform go backs; sort and return items to their appropriate locations. Perishable items must be returned promptly.
9. Gather shopping carts safely while using the reflective vest and rope to secure baskets in movement. Remove trash from shopping carts and return them to designated areas.
10.Conduct and accurately record sweep inspection according to company polices (only if trained).
11..Assist with clean ups, maintain the front end of the store clean at all times.
12.Responsible for sweeping of store sales floor, mopping, and air drying as needed (only if trained).
13.Respond to requests for clean ups in a timely manner; clean up spills using proper cleaning equipment, securing area to prevent persons from walking through area.
14.Clean restroom facilities and fixtures, including sinks, urinals and toilets; wash windows, mirrors and walls, empty receptacles and replenish supplies (only if trained).
15.Empty, clean, and replenish receptacles throughout the store, outside of store and within all departments; pick up trash, cardboard and debris throughout the store from floors, carts, displays, and tables.
16.Replace store lights (only if trained).
17.Clean interior and exterior perimeters; all departments in store, office area, lunchroom, front entrance, sidewalks, cart corrals, trashcan storage corrals and receiving docks.

18.Clean air vents and floor drains as required (only if trained).
19.Identify and report building maintenance needs, including any safety hazards.
20.Maintain janitorial storage room clean, organized and stocked with approved cleaning chemicals and supplies (only if trained).
21.Perform janitorial duties and responsibilities as required.
22.Notify management when a major clean-up is needed, securing the area to prevent anyone from walking through.
23.Comply with all safety rules and procedures.
24.Work safely and be aware of co-workers and customer safety at all times.
25.Treat co-workers and customers respectfully at all times. Do not use obscene and profane language while working.
26.Ensure that the highest standards of housekeeping and safety are followed.
27.Abide by all store rules, and company policies as stated in Company’s Employee Handbook
28.Keep key personnel advised of whereabouts at all times.
29.Report team member injuries and/or team member complaints of misconduct to department manager, store director, or department supervisor.
30.Contact your department manager or store director regarding any questions, problems, or concerns.
31.Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Must have a good attitude, friendly and courteous personality, and enjoy working with the public. Able to work in a fast pace environment. Basic understanding of English language; reading, writing and speaking. Basic understanding of Spanish language; reading, writing and speaking a plus but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to learn product location throughout the store. Must be able to learn and understand the HAZMAT program. Must exhibit a responsible, professional, and positive attitude towards the job. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

We may collect your emergency contact information as well. If you are hired, we may collect additional personal identifiers about you to facilitate the employment relationship.

  1. Biometric Information. We may collect your fingerprints to facilitate the employment relationship, if you are hired, and required as part of the hiring/employment process.

Depending on your role/duties with the Company, we may collect information regarding your criminal history, driving history, and credit history as part of our employment background check.   1. Education Information. We collect information regarding your professional and education history to the extent provided in your resume/application.
  1. Thermal or other Health-Related Information. If you apply in-person or come to our worksite(s) as part of the application process, we may need to take your temperature or other similar information as part of our health protection policies.
