Sweet, creamy, and filled with fresh strawberry flavor, this Strawberry Tres Leches is a beautiful dessert to share with family and loved ones. Made with a light sponge cake soaked in a strawberry-infused milk mixture and topped with fluffy whipped cream and fresh strawberries, it’s a festive twist on a classic favorite — perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1⅓ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 5 large eggs

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted and slightly cooled

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

  • 4 cups sliced strawberries, divided

  • 2½ cups heavy cream, divided

  • 2 cups strawberry-flavored whole milk

  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Cake
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Lightly spray a 13 x 9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder; set aside.

  2. Make the Batter
In a large bowl, beat the eggs on medium-high speed for 1 minute. Slowly add the granulated sugar and continue beating for about 4 minutes, until the mixture is pale yellow and thick. Add the melted butter and vanilla extract; beat for 1 minute, or until fully incorporated. Gently fold in the flour mixture until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely in the dish on a wire rack.

  3. Soak the Cake
Using a fork, poke holes all over the cooled cake. In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, 2 cups of strawberries, 1 cup of heavy cream, and the strawberry-flavored milk. Blend until smooth, then slowly pour the mixture evenly over the cake. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.

  4. Whip the Topping
In a large bowl, beat the powdered sugar with the remaining 1½ cups of heavy cream on medium-high speed for about 2 minutes, or until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream evenly over the chilled cake.

  5. Serve
Cut the cake into 12 pieces and serve topped with the remaining sliced strawberries.
