Hot Dogs de Sonora, a delicious Mexican twist on the classic hot dog. This popular street food is packed with flavor—wrapped in bacon and topped with beans, grilled onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños. It’s perfect for backyard cookouts or a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

8 Farmer John® Chicken & Pork Wieners

8 slices Farmer John® Classic Bacon

4 medium jalapeño peppers

1 can (15 ounces) canned pinto beans

8 hot dog buns

1/2 cup chopped tomatoes

1/2 cup chopped white onion

1/4 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons hot sauce

1/4 cup crumbled queso cotija

Chopped fresh cilantro and/or lime wedges for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425°; line rimmed baking pan with parchment paper. Wrap franks with bacon slices; secure with toothpicks and place on prepared pan. Add jalapeños to prepared pan; roast franks and jalapeños 25 minutes or until bacon is crisp and jalapeños are very tender, turning franks once. Transfer jalapeños to cutting board; cut lengthwise in half, remove stems and seeds, and coarsely chop.

  1. In small saucepot, heat beans with their liquid over medium-low heat 8 minutes or until heated through. Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

  1. Fill buns with beans, franks and jalapeños; top with tomatoes, onion, mayonnaise, hot sauce and queso. Makes 8 hot dogs.

  1. Serve hot dogs garnished with cilantro and/or lime wedges, if desired.
