Diablo Sonora Style Shrimp Sauce Recipe

If you love chile peppers as much as we do, you’re going to love these Camarones a la Diabla! Also known as Diablo Sonora Shrimp or Mexican Deviled Shrimp in English, this dish features juicy, large shrimp covered in a bright red chile pepper sauce that’s spicy, super flavorful and very addicting.

Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

– 1 ½ tablespoons Olive Oil
– 1 ounce (7 cloves) Chopped Fresh Garlic
– 8 ounces (1 large) Chopped White Onions
– 2 ounces (2 each) Chopped Shallots
– 1 pound Chopped Tomatoes
– 1 tablespoon Salt
– ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
– 1 ½ ounces Chile Guajillo, seedless
– ½ ounce Chile de Arbol
– 1 ½ tablespoons Shrimp Bouillon
– 2 cups Water

Shrimp Diablo Sonora Style

– 8 ounces Salted Butter
– 4.5 pounds Shrimp Peeled & Deveined 16-20 per pound
– 2 teaspoons Salt
– ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper

Preparation

Method of Preparation:

  1. In a saucepan, heat butter.
  2. Add shrimp, mix well, and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add salt, pepper, mix well and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add remaining ingredients, mix well, and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Pull from heat and pour into serving dish.
  6. Garnish with chopped cilantro if desire.
