About the Role
The 3rd Assistant Taquería Manager supports the Taquería Manager and Assistant Taquería Manager in planning, directing, and managing the operations of the Taquería and La Isla departments. This role helps the team to maintain high-quality, fresh, and authentic food while ensuring customer service excellence, compliance with safety and sanitation standards, and effective merchandising.
What You’ll Do
- Leadership & Supervision: Act as a role model for employees, delegate tasks effectively, enforce company rules, and ensure outstanding customer service.
- Manager Support: Assume the responsibilities of the Assistant Taquería Manager in their absence; plan and oversee department activities and operations.
- Customer Service: Provide courteous, efficient service and maintain a clean, welcoming environment.
- Team Development: Train, coach, and discipline employees as needed; recognize and recommend team members for promotion.
- Operations: Assist with ordering, reviewing invoices, managing inventory, and maintaining accurate records of sales and transfers.
- Product Quality: Ensure food consistency, freshness, appearance, and variety. Maintain a presentable lineup throughout the day.
- Merchandising: Rotate and replenish products, ensure signage accuracy, and maintain proper food storage and temperatures.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce Vallarta’s Safety Program, correct unsafe conditions immediately, and ensure compliance with health codes and company dress standards.
- Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness of food prep areas, counters, floors, and equipment.
- Other Duties: Support department manager with schedules, attend meetings, and perform additional tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).
- Frequently bend, squat, twist, kneel, and reach above/below shoulders.
- Frequent hand use for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 30 lbs. occasionally (e.g., box of vegetables).
- Heaviest item carried: 25–30 lbs.; longest distance: 3 feet.
- Work in environments with temperature and humidity changes.
- No regular driving, heavy machinery use, or work at heights required.
What We’re Looking For
- Knowledge of preparing and cooking authentic Taquería foods.
- Familiarity with professional food preparation equipment, tools, and ovens.
- Ability to lead and coach employees in a fast-paced environment.
- Must successfully pass food safety certification every 3 years.
- Strong math, organizational, and communication skills.
- Prior culinary trade experience helpful.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must be able to transfer to other store locations within a reasonable commute.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
